The Auckland Housing Programme is a joint initiative between Housing New Zealand and HLC to deliver small, medium and large-scale housing developments in Auckland over the next 10 years.
The programme will help Auckland develop as a vibrant city by delivering more quality homes more quickly.
Housing New Zealand is the largest residential landowner in Auckland and much of this land can be utilised better so it makes sense to build on this land to create more homes for Aucklanders.
The Auckland Housing Programme will:
- deliver around 1,700 additional social homes in Auckland in the period to June 2020
- replace around 3,300 social housing homes through redevelopment, acquisition and leasing
- release land to enable around 2,380 additional affordable and market homes.
The Auckland Housing Programme projects range in scope from a property or two through to large scale developments involving a thousand or more new homes.
Large scale projects
- Mt Roskill
Small and medium projects
Housing New Zealand has around 60 redevelopments underway across Auckland. These are replacing old houses that are no longer fit for purpose with warm, dry and safe homes that make the most efficient use of our land holdings.
