St Brigid’s School in Johnsonville, Wellington has come up with a new name for a nearby Housing New Zealand redevelopment – Haumaru – which means a place where people can live in peace and harmony.

Housing New Zealand staff recently went to the school to say thanks to the children involved. The school also came up with some artwork of what it means to be part of the community, which we made into a postcard and shared with neighbours.

"This is a great example of engaging with the local community on one of our projects," says Housing New Zealand Senior Stakeholder Manager Renee.

"We really appreciate the interest that St Brigid’s School has shown and we’re sure the people that will soon be living in the new 21 unit development will appreciate their community spirit," says Renee.

Housing New Zealand will continue to work with the school as we look to incorporate their ideas and artwork into the development located on the corner of Phillip Street and Frankmoore Avenue in Johnsonville, Wellington.
