29 November 2017

Residents and visitors joined to celebrate the opening of a new 17-unit development at 352 Barbadoes St in central Christchurch.

It was an opportunity to thank those who played a part in planning and constructing the new development, welcome the new tenants and show others around the complex which features 13 one-bedroom and 4 two-bedroom homes, plus a small common room.

After speeches by Regional Manager Jackie Pivac and Senior Project Manager Malcolm Jones, two of the residents helped plant herbs in a raised garden by fruit trees at the rear of the property.

The tenants, who have been moving in since October, seemed very happy with their new homes. "My unit is warm and sunny, and I feel very secure," said one man. "And the location near the city is great."

Tenancy Manager Julie Maloney and Stakeholder Relations Manager Ray Tye had the enjoyable task of furnishing the common room. They are now pulling together a programme of events and activities to be held there regularly.
