Canterbury earthquake publications

These publications formed much of the work undertaken by Housing New Zealand’s Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Programme.

This programme aimed to repair up to 5000 earthquake damaged properties and build up to 700 new homes to bring our housing stock back to pre-quake levels. This programme was successfully completed in early 2016.

Technical Report on the Results of Foundation Repair Trials

This technical report explains the process, the methods and the results that were trialled at 19 different houses in Christchurch owned by Housing New Zealand. The emphasis was on finding economic and viable solutions for either concrete perimeter foundations with timber floors or concrete floor slab foundations.

Supporting Aranui's Earthquake Recovery

Aranui is one of the largest social housing suburbs in Christchurch. Housing New Zealand has over 550 dwellings there ranging from single homes to double-storeyed houses.

Social Housing Redevelopment in Riccarton

As part of its earthquake recovery plan, Housing New Zealand is embarking on an ambitious rebuilding programme in Canterbury with 700 new houses due for construction and completion by the end of 2015.

TC2 & TC3 Foundation Repair Trials

To help determine the options for damaged homes on TC2 and TC3 land, Housing New Zealand is partnering with Southern Response and Arrow International to look at what is required with specific types of house foundations so that they can be either repaired or rebuilt.
